How are Ecoware Tableware Products Manufactured?

Whether it’s the Styrofoam plate you eat from at a wedding, or the plastic lunchbox your kid carries to school, or the disposable cutlery you use at home, your tableware choices largely affect the environment. Plastic has become a matter of convenience. It’s cheap and easily available but we need to be responsible for every item we use.

To help reduce wastage and ensure a sustainable lifestyle, Ecoware is manufacturing the most sustainable packaging and tableware products. These products are made from bagasse which is 100% natural, compostable, and biodegradable.

What is Bagasse?

Bagasse is the residual fibers that remain after the squeezing of sugarcanes during sugar production. Even though bagasse is a by-product, many people see it as a waste product because, in the past, bagasse was mainly used as a fuel for the production plants. It consists of 40 to 60% cellulose, 20 to 30% hemicellulose, and about 20% lignin, therefore can be used for the production of building materials, packaging materials, and disposable tableware such as eco-friendly disposable bowls, eco-friendly disposable cutlery, biodegradable disposable glasses and biodegradable disposable plates.

From Sugarcanes to Sustainable Tableware

Sugarcanes are mainly used throughout the world for the production of sugar. For this purpose, the sugarcanes are harvested, collected, and squeezed to produce sucrose or sugarcane juice. 100 tons of sugarcanes generate about 10 tons of sugar and 34 tons of it ends up as bagasse.

Instead of burning this “waste product”, Ecoware processes this valuable bagasse to produce eco-friendly disposable tableware products.

Production Steps of Ecoware Products:

  • Short fibers and residual sugar are separated before the process begins.
  • The bagasse is mixed with water until the fibers have developed into a pulp.
  • Only biodegradable bleachers are used to make the products as natural as possible.
  • The processed pulp is poured into a form and pressed into the desired shape with high temperature and pressure.
  • After a few more processes and quality checks, Ecoware sugarcane pulp plates, compostable soup bowls, and eco-friendly packaging products are ready for use.

Special Characteristics of Ecoware Sugarcane Pulp Products

  • Good thermal property and sturdy.
  • Water repellent and grease-proof.
  • Suitable for both hot and cold dishes.
  • Completely biodegradable & compostable.

Many restaurants have replaced their plastic and Styrofoam packaging, even their disposable tableware, with Ecoware bagasse products such as biodegradable plates, compostable soup bowls and eco-friendly cutlery. By choosing bagasse packaging and tableware from Ecoware, you not only sustain nature but also engage in the reduction of disposable plastic packaging.
